About Us

If you have been looking for a 'family-feel' nursery setting that will provide a nurturing, caring environment for your child whilst providing individualised opportunities to support your child's learning and development, then you have found us.

Acorn nursery is a small private nursery located within Forestdale Primary School. The nursery went through an extensive refurbishment during August 2018. We are registered to care for 42 children from birth to school age. We open from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, 51 weeks of the year. The staff team are experienced practitioners with childcare qualifications, Safeguarding training and First Aid certificates. All staff have a Police records check.

We have a newly designed baby room; our LITTLE EXPLORERS, caring for just 6 children aged from birth to 18 months. Our EXPLORERS , aged between 18 months and three years enjoy our toddler room, which can accommodate 12 children. Our pre-school, our ADVENTURERS, are based in an adjacent building, providing 24 child places in any one session.. Activities are planned to enhance children's learning, following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. We offer 15 hours free each week for eligible 2 year and 3/4 year olds. A maximum of 15 hours a week free is available for all 3 year old children and some 2 year old in term time, We are now able to offer the extended 15 hours for working parents requiring full time places.The children's developmental milestones are captured and  shared with parents electronically each day and staff are available at any time to parents. We work in partnership with parents and external agencies to provide individual care for your child.

The children have access to a well-resourced outside play area. We ensure that children play outside every day the weather permits, in accordance with Early Years Standards. Breakfast and snacks are well balanced and tasty which the nursery provide. Lunches are provided by an external catering service and all dietary needs can be facilitated The children have milk and fruit every day. We provide a named water bottle so your child can have a drink whenever they choose.
